HEAD TRACKING

The aim of this category is to provide affordable head tracking options to the SIM Racing community, to achieve this I do not provide fancy schmancy dolled up over priced products but simple basic but functional alternatives. The finish might not be up to the standard of the more expensive options available but the functionality and emersion obtained is the same and after all you don't look at the gadgets they are only there to assist in your driving or flying pleasure.

All head tracking options are only made to order and are still in development so the model you order today may not be the final produced model. As with other items on the website there is always room for improvement in design and build. A power bank can be used with all USB tracking devices other than head positioning (this option requires the USB plug be inserted in to a USB port on your PC.

I do not supply the web cams on this web site you will have to find your own however the best camera (or most common) is the PS3 Eye-camera and for this reason all camera based Tracking product can have included a 3D printed IR filter (FREE) that simply attaches to the front lens, just tell us on checkout if you need a lens filter. It should be noted that some models of the Sony Eye-camera do not have an IR filter built in and for the tracking to work properly the normal light entering the camera has to be stopped.

PLEASE NOTE  - to test to see if you need to modify your Sony Eye-Camera hold the cap/frame or clip towards the camera.  If you do not see the 3 white dots then you will need to modify your camera by disassembling the camera and remove the IR blocking filter then either use my IR pass filter to the front of the lens or add a piece of floppy disk or magnetic tape where you removed the lens (search YouTube for videos on modifying the camera).

Some Models are available now or will be released in the next month or so - SO WATCH THIS SPACE.

TRACK-FRAME:  this is a side mounted frame with 3 x IR LED's and similar to the "Delanclip" is only available in USB version. No mounting is supplied but the use of glue backed Velcro dots seems to be the preferred method of mounting to a headset/head phone.

HEAD POSITIONING:this uses the open source version of the EDTRACKER which uses a gyro chip and an arduino micro pro which is attached to the top of a headset with Velcro (or similar method). The device is powered by a USB cable. This method does not require a camera to track it sends it's head positioning data to the PC via the USB cable.
